REVIEW: Dan and Amy thought that once they figured out the 39 Clues their lives would go back to normal. They were wrong. The Cahill family was not the only family interested in the 39 Clues. Rick Riordan takes us back to the beginning in 1507 and tells us more about Gideon Cahill, the serum, Damien Vesper, and a mysterious ring. Peter Lerangis continues the story in 1526 where we meet Madeleine and follow her quest to keep the ring safe. Thus begins the story of the Madrigals. Gordon Korman jumps to 1942 and Grace Cahills induction into the hunt for clues and guardianship of the ring. Finally, Jude Watson brings us back to the present where Amy and Dan learn about and take over the guardianship of the ring. Why exactly is the ring so important? The reader will have to wait for the next installment of The 39 Clues.
OPINION: I have been a huge fan of the 39 Clues books and this one was no exception. I loved how the four authors worked together to blend the Cahill past and present and introduce the Vespers and the mysterious ring to the storyline. It should be another fun ride and I cannot wait for the next book.
IDEAS: This book would need to be used in conjunction with all the other books in the series. A reader can go to the 39 clues website and use the cards to play games and solve puzzles. There are also puzzles in the books themselves to solve. It would be fun to have a 39 Clues group to discuss the clues and the books. For writing, a teacher could discuss how the four authors worked together and complemented each other by taking different points of view and time periods.
